Containerized Helmet Quote: Why “FOB China” Is Not a Complete Delivery Term
Before comparing containerized helmet quotes, identify the exact delivery point, export-clearance owner and charges outside the unit price.

You have an OEM motorcycle-helmet quotation marked “FOB China.” Before approving a sample-to-production price, ask: at what exact point does the seller hand over the cartons, and who is responsible for export clearance? A country name does not identify a named port or delivery point.
The ICC Incoterms® 2020 sea rules describe FOB delivery when goods are on board the buyer-nominated vessel. Where containerized cartons are handed over earlier at a terminal, the ICC says parties should consider FCA instead. Its FCA guidance also makes the named place and export-clearance responsibility explicit.
The helmet RFQ addendum
For a private-label helmet order, request one revised quote line with these five fields:
Product — Exact model, shell and visor configuration, size/color mix, accessories and approved sample reference.
Pack — Inner box, master-carton size and quantity, labeling and any extra protective packing.
Delivery — Incoterms® 2020 rule plus precise named point; explain whether cartons go to factory pickup, carrier or terminal.
Export — Responsible party for export clearance and the documents to be supplied.
Exclusions — Inland movement, terminal fees, main carriage and destination charges that are not in the unit price.
This is Taotao’s quote-normalization addendum, not a freight quotation or a promise about any particular model. MOQ, lead time, packing dimensions and certification scope remain to be verified for the exact helmet and destination market.
The MX802 helmet listing is a product-context example; it does not prove a specific shipping term, price or production order.
Decision before the deposit
Continue when the revised scope, named point and product configuration match the purchase order. Pause if “FOB China” is left undefined or a low EXW unit price is presented as a delivered cost. Escalate a container-terminal handover or export-clearance mismatch to the forwarder before confirming the order.
The helmet image is a Taotao product asset for context, not a photo of packed goods or evidence that freight has been booked.
