Helmet Factory Footage Looks Convincing. Where Is the Model-Specific Control Record?

Use a model-to-checkpoint map to decide whether an OEM helmet order is ready for a production deposit.

An OEM helmet supplier can show a clean sample and a busy line. The buyer still needs one answer before a production deposit: which records will show that the delivered helmet matches the agreed model and configuration?
The UK Vehicle Certification Agency describes a Conformity of Production control plan as documented checks needed to keep production units aligned with an approved specification, marking and performance. The UNECE lists UN Regulation No. 22, 06 series, for protective helmets and visors where it applies. Neither source turns a factory video or this product photo into approval evidence for any Taotao model.

Build the helmet control map

Request a dated, model-specific sheet covering:
1. Exact identity: model/type, revision, intended market, size range and offered options.
2. Controlled bill of materials: shell, impact liner, retention system, visor and mechanism, labels, instructions and packaging, as applicable.
3. Checkpoints: incoming material, assembly and final checks; method, frequency, acceptance limit and responsible person.
4. Records: redacted examples showing date, lot/batch, result and disposition of a failure.
5. Change authority: the written rule for replacing a component, revising artwork or changing a subcontracted process.
Ask the supplier to connect one supplied sample, one document and one planned production record to the same configuration. Price, MOQ, tooling and lead time remain to be confirmed for the exact order; do not infer them from this map.

A simple decision test

If the quoted visor or retention system changes, who notices before assembly? Which record would show the change? Who decides whether testing or approval evidence must be reviewed again? If the supplier cannot answer in writing, the commercial sample is not yet a reliable production reference.
For any regulatory claim, obtain the actual approval or test documents and have the issuing authority, competent technical service or qualified market adviser check their scope against the offered model. A logo, sticker or photo is not the document trail.

Continue / Pause / Escalate

Continue: the model/revision, controlled components, records and change approvals agree.
Pause: the sample looks right but a material component or batch-record link is missing.
Escalate: an approval claim or safety-critical part changed, or the evidence refers to another helmet type. Do not substitute a generic certificate for model-specific review.
Send Taotao Trading a redacted helmet specification and target market for a one-page control-record gap check before you release the next payment. Remove prices, bank details and personal contacts first.
